Leago | Crawling/standing/walking, Drive, Separation, Sibling Rivalry

A few weeks have passed since the last filming. Mom has started to work for the first time since Leago’s birth. This means that Leago is being looked after by his great grandmother, at her home, during the day.

It is evening in winter and mom has just brought Leago home after mom’s day’s work. Naledi and uncle, Rodney, are also at the house. The house is quite dark and the images for this day of filming are grainy.

Leago is crawling. It is the first time the filmmaker has seen this and mom comments “Wow Lee, you’re crawling!”. He is chasing an empty bottle around the floor. Mom sits down on the floor with Leago after giving him a few standing kisses. Leago pulls himself up, holding the table. He starts playing with a copper ashtray and pulling on the table cloth which mom tries to hold in place. “This thing of him being able to stand up on his own will cost us” says mom.

Naledi sits down with a box of juice and mom asks for Leago’s bottle and starts to feed him. She also instructs him to hold the bottle himself. Mom comments to granny that Leago wants Naledi’s juice and is climbing on her to get at it.
