It is Christmas time. Sofia is sitting in her mobile plastic seat in the middle of the dining room table, surrounded by decorations. Mom is making a reindeer head and Sofia, propped up, is watching the activities. She looks around at all the different and colourful things on the table. Mom enters and leaves – Sofia is not distressed by this coming and going.
Dad arrives home to much excitement from Fia’s brothers, who he greets individually. Sofia shows little expression on hearing dad’s voice but when he comes to pick her up she smiles broadly. Dad carries Sofia, facing away from him, and chat’s to mom. Sofia’s face shows no particular emotion. She is handed back to mom and the two go to the veranda where they sit together on the couch, exploring one another, largely without interruptions, except for the cat. Mom kisses Fia and moves her back and forth. Sofia bites mom’s face and they look closely at one another. Then the boys arrive and mom's attention is drawn away from Sofia, who gives a last wide-mouthed bite on mom’s chin. “She’s biting…she’s eating you” Raphael tells mom. He begins to give Sofia “raspberry” kisses (spits) and does the same to mom, who wipes her face but allows him to continue until Raphael bumps Sofia who starts to cry.
Dad calls them away and mom gets up to take Sofia up to the bedroom.
