Following from Clip 1: Sofia is alone in the bedroom. Nomsa enters and picks her up to put on a warmer jacket. Nomsa comments “I can’t believe it. This was Raphael’s and now it’s yours.” Nomsa puts Sofia down on the carpet again, making noises, which Sofia mimics, and leaves the room to fetch Raphael from the bath, closing the door behind her.

Sofia crawls to the door and stands up balancing on the door. She knocks on the door and then, accidentally, bangs her head on it. There is no response. Sofia turns to the filmmaker, wide-eyed. She sits down looking at the door, hands moving around her head and into her ears. After some time of looking at the door, Sofia crawls over to the filmmaker and engages with her, holding onto her legs and making noises towards her. The filmmaker copies the noises and comments on how strong Sofia is to have pulled herself up.

Sofia crawls over to the fireplace and picks up a few pieces of coal, exploring them visually and occasionally mouthing them and the small bits of burnt material that are gathered up with the coal. “Where’s your book Fia?” asks the filmmaker. But Sofia continues to mouth the coal. “You should leave the fire” the filmmaker says, trying to distract Sofia without intervening too much.
