Nomsa has dressed Sofia and is holding her up, smiling at her noticing the filmmaker but Sofia then doesn’t pay attention to Nomsa when she tries to engage with her. Nomsa follows Sofia’s line of sight and notices that she is looking at the colours/light on the floor. She puts Sofia on the bed and continues dressing her. Luca joins them and has a conversation with her about Sofia being his sister, not a cupcake – “she’s a real baby”. Fia watches Luca closely while he and Nomsa talk. Luca takes Sofia’s fingers and starts playing with them – first gently and then more vigorously and putting his fingers in Fia’s mouth and eyes. Sofia moves her face away occasionally or pushes Luca’s hands with her own, but makes no protestations.

Nomsa undresses Luca to bath while Sofia looks on. When Luca is taken off to bath she watches, rubs her eyes and scrunches her face, making a small noise and looking around. She waits a few moments and then starts vocalising more loudly, her hands moving between her face and ears and stretching outwards into space. She soon gets distracted by her own hands, which she watches move above her. She is silent, looking towards the sound of Luca bathing.
